supernatural - the song remains the same
so i just saw supernatural's latest episode, the song remains the same. one word: WOW. i LOVE this show so much!!!
stand-out performances from the young mary and john winchester: amy gumenick and matt cohen (more on matt later) =) ever since their first appearance on supernatural during it's season 4 run, gumenick and cohen were clamored for and the fandom wanted them back so much that the writers decided to do just that with this, now season 5 episode. first off, these two's chemistry is just so palpable! i mean, i WISH they'd get married in real life, they're so made for each other! i guess they're amazing actors then, huh?
second would be the storyline and how they fit so snugly into it. it's a few years into their marriage with mary carrying a baby (the boys were brought back to the year 1979, so i'm guessing the baby's dean) but they're in trouble because angel anna (glenn close IRL according to cas) wants to kill mary and john so that sam wouldn't be born (BOO, by the way).
i'm not going to give away much of this because it's too yummy to spoil... anyway, going back to matt, he was FANTASTIC as one of the angels (he gets possessed by one). this was my pleasant surprise =) i LOVED every single moment of it!!! never ending goosebumps in this scene, i swear! this scene alone, with him as an angel talking to dean, is SO worth your while. another pivotal moment for cohen is his scene with jared as his son sam winchester. if you're a supernatural fan and have watched the show since day one, you'd know how precarious the relationship with sam and john was. the characters were constantly butting heads, and before john died, they never really got to patch things up completely between them. the scene with sam and young john completely undos all of that and i was really happy with it =) contented, you might say.
i'm worried for castiel. he's been weakened by his use of his time traveling powers and now he can barely stand up...
well, once again, this episode goes down as one of my favorites of the bunch. thank you kripke, supernatural writers, jared & jensen, misha, amy, matt and julie; thank you mr. boyum =)
